OG Clip Joint Clipper Review

OG Clip Joint Clipper Review

What are your top 2 clippers?

My top 2 clippers so far would have to be the Wahl Magic Clips and the Styelcraft Rebel
What are the differences between the 2?
I would have to say the biggest differences between the two are
-power
-the ability to customize them (i.e. the rebels come with different colored parts such as clipper lids &
extra levers)
-the amount of wear & tear they can handle as far as cosmetics (fading/chipping of color etc.)
-ability to adjust the levers, with included parts, as far as rebels being adjustable to fully open to a #1
What makes them unique from other clippers in the same class?
Although i have yet to try more recently released clippers from StyeCraft, the Rebels among other clippers
from them, are unique because of the company making most of their tools include different
colored parts, spare parts, a charging stand, etc. all at a decent price
I can’t decide what would make Magic Clips unique but for me it is important they have been around for
so long they have been such a reliable clipper. I have had a couple for about 4 years now and have had
the ability to easily find someone out there & eventually learn myself how to repair & modify them to
make them perform more to my liking

What are the top 2 things from each clipper that make them desirable to use?

In my experience, the biggest deal breaker for me is a clipper that is too heavy, giving me wrist pain & a
stiff shoulder, especially on a busy day. They are the most desirable because the Magic Clip is
lightweight & reliable as well as the Rebel, except in these gaining more power without sacrificing its
lightness in weight
What are 2 things you believe the clippers can improve?
I believe all clippers can always improve depending on each stylist or barber’s needs based on their
style of cutting/working. Speaking for myself I believe you can never go wrong with more battery life but
that also brings us back to the ability & ease of modifying your tools with parts out there made by other
companies. For example the Magic Clip is easy to replace the battery by simply unplugging & plugging
in a new one which is what I have done, adding a Tomb 45 battery to all my wahl clippers, something I
do wish was less complicated to do on the Rebel.
What is the current cost of each clipper?
depending
The current cost of a standard Wahl Magic Clip is $129 USD directly from their website, but price may
vary by retailer.
The cost of a Rebel is $189.95 USD on their website, but price may also vary by retailer.

Are they cheaper or more expensive than other clippers?

In my opinion the Magic Clip is a very affordable clipper, it has a great price point perfect for beginners
& advanced barbers alike offering reliability for long term.
The Rebel is a fair price point right in the middle, offering a bit more power & many extras included for
its price.
Do they come in different styles and/or different models?
The Rebels do not come in different styles or models but they do include spare parts in different colors,
one day you can make it pink, another blue and once you get tired of those you can go for a simple
black and even mix & match the lids & levers to make different combinations.
The Magic Clips come in a wide variety and Wahl always has something new coming for them. These
clippers have been made in a metal edition, there has been a black with gold accents model, an all gold
with black version recently. If so what are the differences between styles and models?
If not mistaking, the biggest differences in them are mainly the style, metal body & weight in the metal
edition, and pricing.

Out of all the models which is your most recommended?

Personally I have not tried other models, the only comparisons I can make to the Magic Clips are to the
Seniors and the 100 YR edition, the other models have more power but for me are a deal breaker
because you sacrifice weight, making them too heavy for my liking.
As for the Rebels, I have tried a model before these were released called the Alpha’s. Those were very
similar with the only difference in my experience was the power, once I tried the Rebels, the Alpha’s
were no match

What type of haircuts or hair types do you use these the most for?

Personally everyone uses their tools differently, but I myself like to rotate through all my tools, a
different set for each new client, unless there is a need for more power such as a dense hair texture, a
lot of length or bulk being cut, then my go-tos are my Rebels.
What types of haircut and hair types are these clippers not good for?
I feel my Rebels are good for most hair types, but I have recently discovered through experience & help
of my fellow barbers that sometimes there can be such a thing as too much power. I have come across
hair textures that can be very deceiving and less dense so in this case it has been best, in my
experience, to take it slow and use a clipper with a slower motor such as the Magic Clips to take it little
by little.

Are the clippers durable, do they last and how long have you had them for?

I have owned Magic Clips since I started Cosmetology school back in early 2018, making it about 5
years owning them and I can say they have been very durable. Only recently did I have to replace the
motor, but I believe it was due to using the wrong products to clean out the hair in my clipper. My
Rebels have been with me for about a year and they have held up very well & proved to be durable
thus far.
What are the personal benefits you gain by using these clippers in your daily work life?
The personal benefits I gain by using these clippers are comfort in my day to day, the ease to
customize them and make them my own, as well as making my profession more enjoyable and
exciting, especially when experimenting and modifying them to fit my personal needs.
